Fierce Boy turning 4

In some ways I wish I could describe Gabriel as a lighthearted boy with a quiet gentle side but I could not write something that is not quiet the truth.

Gosh how to describe Gabriel in a word… fierce is what comes to mind. He is someone I wouldn’t want to mess with if you got on his bad side but if he loved you it would be with every fiber of his being. There is no in between with him. He is so much like his father it is truly amazing. The more I get to know my son the more I get to know my husband it seems.

Gabriel is fierce when it comes to being a boy. There is no way around it that he is a boys boy. He loves every super hero and thinks he really is one.

When he gets really mad at me he will say, “IM going to turn into Iron Man.”  Than he starts spinning around. It takes a lot for me not to laugh at him but I try to compose myself to help him work through how he is feeling. I will miss him turning into Iron Man one day and I am sure we won’t let him live it down.

Gabriel is fierce when it comes to teasing his sister. He will stop at nothing to push her to the ultimate limit by chasing, poking, or singing SUPER loud to bother her. What are brothers for??? They were watching a movie about turtles and their little conversation went like this as it began.
Ella: I am the girl turtle named Ella
Gabriel: I am the boy. Sammy.
Ella: No Gabe! The turtle’s name IS Ella.
Gabriel: Yeah. I’m Sammy.
Haha funny

Gabriel is fierce about making you laugh. If he finds something that will get you laughing he will not stop until it really isn’t funny any more and than keep going.

There is so much I could say about Gabriel and what I hope his future will hold. I have no doubt in my mind that he will whack is own path through the world and not be broken. He will be steadfast in what he believes and a champion at all that he does. I am looking forward to the great man he will become but for now I am so happy to be a part of the challenge of raising him as one.

Happy 4th Birthday my fierce little man!

Colorful Country

We stopped by this pretty painting on the streets of Okinawa. The painting was painted to depicting Okinawa's history. It was done in bright beautiful color that brought the pictures to life.

The kids are great addition to the painting as well.

Gabriel loved his umbrella more than the looking at the artwork. No surprise there. :)

Birthdays and typhoons

The typhoons have headed our way this week but it brought some brilliant skies. Dark clouds covered the sky but the sun was shining bright behind them which made this beautiful view.

It was also both Tucker and Jeremiah's birthday this past week. The kids decorated the house with streamers and Ella helped me bake birthday cake. Everyone loves to celebrate birthdays so we were excited to celebrate our awesome guys.
Took a trip to the store and of course father like son...playing video game. They are too cute!
Any chance they get they love to snuggle up to Daddy. Their favorite pillow, playmate, and partner in crime ;) Lots of Love for him.
The day before the typhoon we squeezed in one more playdate with friends at the park. At this park you have to climb huge rocks to get to the top of the slide. The slide is no joke either. You can zip down at really good speed. A park like this would never be allowed in the states. When we first got the island I followed my kids up the rocks every time. It was tiresome but after several visits and a year living here they can scale the rocks effortless. Of course we let them run around barefoot because their feet can stick better to the rocks. It was a great day of fun.

Ella and I found this little art project to do while the typhoon blows outside but we could not wait for the storm. She made stain glass with colored glue.
Typhoon came and we are still all smiles. The kids slept all night long. Our house is so solid we could hardly hear the winds that had gust up to 90mph. It was crazy to look outside at all the branches blowing as if we were in a hurricane. We are all safe making cookies, watching movies, and playing games together.

Gabriel came up with flipping over the couch for fun. And honestly I didn't mind at all that he was keeping himself happy and burning energy. It was impressive as well.

The typhoon will pass but we will have these memories forever. :)

Sunny fun and flowers

It was a wonderful day in the sunshine at a local park with some friends we met here in Okinawa. This Japanese park had spring fed fountains for the kids to splash around in when they got hot.

I didn't realize how wet them could get and forgot to pack swimsuits but that didn't stop the fun. Gabriel ran through the water throwing fist punches and kicks as if the spouts of water were "bad guys." He befriend a little Japanese boy and they jumped and played like boys do even without being able to understand each other. Precious.

Ella and her friend caught tad poles and minnows by the lilli pads adding them into their collection.

After we got our fill at the park we headed to a small field of sunflower. The kids played hide and seek. Their giggles and running around reminded me how sweet life can be as child. I am so glad they have the freedom to live life this way. It was what we want for them.

The sunflowers were much taller than the kids so it was a prefect place for them to hide and play.
Picking flowers for mommy.

Running from Gabriel

Gabriel spotted the girls.
My flower child running barefoot into the sunflowers

Now we have fresh bouquet of sunflowers on the table. It was a lovely day.
