Did that really count???

It's Friday here on Okinawa and rainy. Most days when it rains we make cookies but... its rained a little too much. So instead the kids played outside. Yes in the rain. Hey if you can't avoid it go play in it, right?

As a mother, wife, and (in my head) an athlete as well as having a major in nutrition I like to keep a somewhat healthy lifestyle. I try to workout/ run every day. I can tell the days I don't because I don't have as much energy and my fuse is just a little shorter.

Its not easy finding time to workout. Yep I am a stay at home mom and it is hard to find time to workout. There are plenty of "other things" I could be doing and carving out time for myself to workout is hardly the priority when it comes to feeding, cleaning, educating, and spending quality time with my children. They are the whole reason I am at home to begin with anyway.

It is important though to find that balance for myself. So I can be the best mom for them as well. I cram workouts in and run fast because I don't know how long I really have before someone else needs me.

It goes something like this:

Start running on the treadmill 4:00 min in Paxton wakes up so I jump off to run get him.

Get him happy playing on the floor next to me. Get back on the treadmill

1/2 mile in Gabriel needs a snack. Jump off. Grab an apple for him.

Do a couple of squats because why not.

Another 1/2 mile Ella needs help with the show. Jump off. Turn on the show.

I see that I can't get a straight mile so I am going to run as fast as I can for 1/2 mile.

Looking down at Paxton I feel guilty he is just sitting there so I jump off and do crunches and squats while chatting with him.

Get on the treadmill again. I should run while I can right? I get about another 1/2 mile in when Ella says Gabriel hit her.

So I jump off and put him in the corner. While he stands with his nose in the corner I do push-ups behind him. Lecture. Dismiss him.

Get on the treadmill again. I have to sprint this last 1/2 mile cause Paxton is getting cranky.

Well I guess that is it for today....

Did that really count???

That was no fitness magazine workout. That was a pure stay at home mom workout. :)

Its not easy to find the time or get the time but for me its important. It is an outlet that helps me inside and out. So I guess it is going to have to count for today. I'll try again tomorrow. :)

  1. I love it! That was me on the treadmill in the gym today, off and on, then did squat workout and arm weights while playing with Graham in the floor. Love being a mom and wouldn't change one thing about my crazy day or my crazy workouts. ;0)
